Very jealous? Australian influencers including Sammy Robinson and Bella Varelis are being criticized by anonymous trolls on Instagram for coming from ‘wealthy privileged families’
Some of Australia’s biggest social media influencers have fallen victim to the tall poppy syndrome simply because of their success and privilege.
Popular Instagram account Influencer updates urged their followers to anonymously submit controversial opinions for them to post, and the results revealed a little jealousy among many of the account’s followers.
One fan complained that influencers Sammy Robinson and Bella Varelis “don’t acknowledge that they come from wealthy, privileged families.”
As evidence, they pointed out that Sammy’s childhood home faces the Sydney Harbor Bridge and that Bella once asked her father to send her money to buy a Dior bag after being scammed by an unreliable ATM while on vacation in Italy.
Bella, who became an Instagram influencer after appearing on The Bachelor, made headlines last year after being conned in Europe.

The star planned to spend abroad but was unable to splurge in a Dior store after a dodgy ATM stole her holiday money.
But her father “came to the rescue” by transferring some emergency funds, which allowed her to “pamper herself,” she proudly explained to her online followers at the time.
“I saved up so much before I left so I could treat myself to something special during the trip, and then I recently got scammed by an ATM and ended up feeling quite discouraged,” she explained.

“But Dad came to the rescue in the end, so I decided to still treat myself! And today is the day,” she added.
Elsewhere, another troll accused teen TikTok star Sophia Dopha of making a mistake booking tickets for a holiday, claiming it was insensitive to people who have less money than them.
“Sophia is out of touch with reality,” the fan raged. “Complaining about how she booked wrong dates for Europe and lost so much money while many people struggle to buy food and pay rent.”

Another claimed that Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne’s Life Uncut podcast is now “flopping” despite being one of the most downloaded podcasts in the country.
“Life Uncut flops!” They wrote. “People still love Laura, but have a hard time relating to Brittany. She’s insufferable.’
Due to the huge success of Life Uncut, Brittany and Laura launched their own weekday radio show on KIIS FM in January called The Pick Up.
