I tested a random side hustle and made $1,050 in the first week – it’s so easy anyone can do it

An Australian teen made $1,050 in one week with a simple side hustle that’s so easy anyone can do it to make some extra money.

Adam Ortfrom the Gold Coast, came up with the idea of selling firewood for $15 a bag and was surprised how quickly it took off.

The 18-year-old entrepreneur picked up free firewood through Facebook Marketplace and bought reusable bags for 50 cents each on eBay.

After spending two hours dividing the wood, he put the product back on Facebook Marketplace and was quickly flooded with messages.

He just started the side hustle last week and has already sold 70 bags. Adam’s also documented the process in a series of TikTok videos to inspire others.

Adam told FEMAIL it took an hour to collect the wood and another hour and a half to divide it into 100 bags.

“I came up with the idea when my mother was buying bags of wood and knew I could do the same thing in the winter,” he said.

The bags initially cost $25 each, but Adam quickly realized this was too expensive.

An hour later, one customer bought two bags and the other customer three. In just one week he sold 70 bags.

Adam’s efforts show that you don’t have to start a business, spend thousands of dollars, or put in a lot of time to make some extra money.

‘I was surprised by how quickly it became successful. I’m continuing my series on TikTok and comparing how well all my side hustles are performing,” Adam said.

This isn’t the first side hustle Adam has tried: he sold honey locally and made $3,360.

‘[Selling honey] was quite successful, so I thought I would try other side hustles and film the process to hopefully inspire younger kids,” he said.

He also started collecting and selling golf balls from a golf club.

“My biggest piece of advice (to others) would be to just try it because you don’t know if it will work unless you try,” Adam said.

‘Look at what stuff is trendy and in season: I won’t be selling firewood in the summer, but it’s perfect for the winter. Also identify your skills and interests as you will be more motivated to do it.”
