Atlanta or Afghanistan? Wild shootout breaks out at gas station with one gunman wielding an AK-47: Three bystanders are wounded and just one arrest is made

A wild gunfight at an Atlanta gas station in which one gunman appeared to wield an AK-47 was caught on camera, leaving three bystanders injured.

The gunfight broke out just after 8:20 p.m. Tuesday at a Circle K gas station in Decatur between at least four men, sending bullets flying across the forecourt.

Three innocent bystanders were killed in the crossfire. Two of the men, aged 32 and 44, were hospitalized with their injuries, and a third was shot by a bullet.

One of the victims, Atif Ray, was shot twice while texting in his car. He told WSBTV: “I was looking at my phone. But I know what it sounds like. That’s the world we live in. It is scary.’

Police arrested Darius Morris, 34, and he was charged with three counts of aggravated assault. They are still looking for the other suspects.

Shocking video of the fight was captured on CCTV.

Three men stood around their black car and shot dozens of times across the forecourt at another man.

Other cars in the parking lot tried to drive away when chaos broke out and they ended up in the middle of it.

Customers crouched outside the front of the supermarket and tried to dodge the bullets, while those inside the store ducked and hid.

One of the shooters was wielding what appeared to be an AK-47 and firing rapidly, while the other held two handguns.

All three then climbed back into the black car and drove away.

Police arrived on the scene and found three bystanders injured – one of the men, Ray said, “I was actually sitting in my truck and texting Candler at a gas station.”

Police have arrested Darius Morris and are looking for more suspects. Morris was out on bond for a second shooting in October 2020 and was reportedly under a curfew at the time of the shooting.

The DeKalb County Prosecutor’s Office told FOX 5 Atlanta, “Our office is aware of the new charges against Darius Maurice Morris in connection with a shooting at a gas station in DeKalb County.

‘Morris is a suspect in a previous shooting in our province in October 2020.

“Despite our office’s objections, a DeKalb County Superior Court judge granted bond to Defendant Morris on December 31, 2020.

“As a condition of that bond, defendant Morris was ordered to be under house arrest with a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

“In light of these new allegations, our team has filed a motion to revoke Defendant Morris’ bond in that case.

“We hope the court will schedule a bond revocation hearing as soon as possible.

‘Mr. Morris’ case has been continued several times due to scheduling conflicts with his attorney, who also represents a defendant in the ongoing YSL trial in Fulton County.”
