  • Essendon and Collingwood played an exciting game
  • Kyle Langford had a chance to take all the glory but missed

For the first time since the first Anzac Day match between Essendon and Collingwood, the prestigious match has ended in a draw.

The Bombers and Pies played out a dramatic affair at the MCG on Thursday afternoon, but neither side managed to come out with all the spoils in a match that ended with twelve goals and thirteen deficits apiece.

Essendon star Kyle Langford had a chance to take all the glory with a set shot within scoring range, but he blasted his effort wide and registered a deficit.

Before that, Jamie Elliott had stolen the spotlight with a spectacular mark, climbing above the 202cm tall Ben McKay to claim what will surely be a front-runner for the title of the year.

Bombers captain Zach Merrett took home the Anzac Day medal after registering 31 disposals, eight tackles and six clearances.
