Commuters in Sydney have been urged to allow extra travel time as bumper-to-bumper traffic causes major delays on the city’s main roads.
About 8:35 a.m. a car broke down at the northern exit of the Sydney Harbor Tunnel, leaving one of the two lanes closed and causing significant backups for northbound traffic.
Transport NSW advised drivers to expect delays, although the vehicle has since been removed from the tunnel.
Meanwhile, heavy traffic has also been reported on the Anzac Bridge, with delays stretching from Drummoyne over the Anzac and Iron Cove Bridges via Barangaroo and Rozelle.
A car crash along Ku-Ring-Gai Chase Road, in Sydney’s far north, resulted in the closure of one of the three southbound lanes and increased traffic earlier on Monday.
