- National outage for ANZ customers
- Affects banking app, ATMs and internet banking
ANZ has suffered a major national outage with ATMs, branch services, internet banking and credit and debit cards all affected.
More than 8000 Australians reported service outages on the ANZ site within four hours on Friday afternoon, according to business service outage website Downdetector.
Many customers have reported that they have lost access to their accounts and are unable to pay rent, bills and groceries.
A bank says it is aware of the issue currently affecting the ANZ app, internet banking, credit/debit card transactions, ATMs and branch services in some states ahead of the October long weekend.
“A team of experts is working to resolve this as quickly as possible,” a spokesperson said.
‘We apologize for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause and would like to reassure customers that it is our absolute priority to resolve this.’
The outage was not well received by customers who experienced inconvenience.
‘Well, this is great! I tried to pay the mobile technician, but it doesn’t work…embarrassed doesn’t even come close to how I feel right now!’ one woman cooked.
Another said: ”It’s Friday afternoon and our internet banking and app aren’t working? We have workers and bills to pay!”
Customers also indicate that they cannot reach the bank via their telephone line, with one person stating that ‘everyone is having problems’.
Another went to their local ANZ branch and found it ‘closed’.
“One young man said they were all locked out of their own systems,” they said.
Others were just happy to have cash on them.
