Antiques Roadshow guest is speechless when he discovers what his £7.99 vase is REALLY worth

An Antiques Roadshow guest was in complete shock on Sunday night’s episode after being told his Ming vase was worth an eye-watering sum.

The BBC show was held at Palm House Sefton Park in Liverpool where the gentleman showed off his antiques which he bought for just £7.99.

After some background on the purchase, the expert gushed that out the gentleman “has a very good eye” and that the vase was worth a lot of money.

The expert said, “Ker-ching! I think if it passes the tests it would fetch somewhere between £5,000 and £10,000.”

He added, “You have a good eye.”

The gentleman couldn’t believe his happiness, he replied: ‘Wow! I’m having a party! That’s like a life dream, I’m so happy and excited.”

Elsewhere on the show, his Silver Disk was appreciated by another gentleman who was a member of the legendary band Gerry And The Pacemakers.

Les Maguire, 81, who played piano in the band made up of Gerry Marsden, Freddie Marsden, Les Chadwick, Arthur Mack, ‘brought a bit of music history’ to the BBC show.

The 1960s British group, who had the hits You’ll Never Walk Alone, How do you do it and I Like It, also spent time with The Beatles.

The connoisseur explained: ‘A silver disc of the hit single ‘You Never Walk Alone’ and you are one of the members of Gerry And The Pacemakers.

“It’s a great honor to meet you and see this.”

Les said, “The disc was presented by Disk and was for anyone who sold over a quarter of a million records and that was many more.

‘At one point it also got a gold disc. I think Jerry had the gold disc, so assuming his family has it now.

‘I played the piano in the band. I got to play and tour with The Beatles and several others. The best part about it was that it was early days. With The Beatles, we first lived in the same flat as them for a while.’

The expert revealed: ‘If this went up for auction I’d say it would cost between £5,000 and £8,000.

“However, I would suggest selling this to Liverpool football club or the council. It’s the football anthem and they have a museum, if you’re interested in both of them it will definitely exceed that number.

“It was a pleasure to see and meet you, thank you.”
