Tom Brady reflects on the ‘humiliating’ first visit to England football team Birmingham after becoming a minority owner and swears the team is ‘on the rise’ after dramatic win over Leeds
Tom Brady took to Instagram to make a heartfelt statement after watching England football team Birmingham FC play for the first time since becoming a minority owner.
Brady announced his involvement last week, on his 46th birthday, flying to England to watch Birmingham’s first home game of the new English football season – the team beat Leeds 1-0 with a penalty in the last minute.
Brady visited fans at a local pub – The Roost – before the game and bought supporters a round of beers, which raised $700.
“Birmingham, that was an incredible day and such a special experience,” Brady captioned a photo slideshow of his day at St. Andrew’s Stadium.
“From the moment we walked into The Roost to the moment the penalty hit the back of the net your energy was humble and a moment I will never forget. Thank you to all the supporters for welcoming us into this family with open arms.”

Brady also spoke to the team for the first time in the dressing room before the game, which perhaps turned out to be a lucky charm as Birmingham won the game on a last-minute penalty.
After the game, Brady and team president Tom Wagner also shed some light on Brady’s addition to the property.
“It was a great day,” Brady told ITV Football. “Obviously I won the game but given the experience of the fans and to see for this home game and to see all the renovations that Tom (Wagner – Birmingham chairman) and his team have put together and done, it was very exciting.
“Things have been fast and furious, but it was a great experience today.
“And hopefully this is the beginning of a very long-lasting meaningful impact on this community and sports fans around the world.”
He continued: ‘For me I’m a fan of sports, I’ve been playing sports since I was a kid and I’ve also been a big fan of your version of football for a very long time.

‘It’s a global sport, I’ve been following it with great pleasure for a long time. Family was involved over a long period of time, so when Tom (Wagner) offered me the chance, it was a no-brainer for me.’
Tom is actively involved in the operations on the sporting side of the team, he will play a significant role. And the other champion team fans would probably wish it was a publicity stunt,” Wagner said.
Unfortunately for them, it’s much more than that. I think others will take much more of what Tom (Brady) has done and proven to be successful in American football and I think this is a great platform for Tom to get his message out.”
