Anti-vaxxer Monica Smit begs Aussies to give her their inheritance as she faces bankruptcy

A leading anti-vaxxer has made an astonishing video of him begging “older” Australians to give her their inheritance to save her conspiracy-based movement from bankruptcy.

After listing where Reignite Democracy Australia (RDA) money has gone – wages, taxes, GST etc – Monica Smit said ‘it’s too much for one girl to carry’.

The Melbourne-based activist, who rose to prominence for her anti-lockdown views during the Covid-19 pandemic, then begged people to give her their money.

“You can just donate, or if you, you know, have an inheritance and you’re older and you don’t know what you’re going to do with it, why not support us?” she said.

“If we don’t get an answer within two months, I’ll have to close all services at RDA…because I’m going bankrupt.”

The former reality TV wannabe — who tried out for Survivor in 2017 but didn’t make it — also appealed to a higher power, saying “somewhere down the line, God will take care of me.”

Ms Smit suggested that fellow anti-vaxxers owed her their support, saying ‘We were there for Australia when Australia really needed it… when we had to hide under the bushes’.

“It was just the right thing at the right time because, you know, I learned so much,” she said.

“Being a public freedom fighter is stressful in itself with constant attacks, but to have financial stress on top of that… it’s too much for one girl.”

She added that ‘we have no major investors, no government grants or grants and we pay taxes and GST as if we were a normal company, but we operate on a non-profit basis.

“There are tons of financial commitments in hiring people and running a business. I just can’t keep up.”

A financial statement (pictured), covering the first four months of 2023, showed expenses such as $2,690 for “currency conversion – Paypal” and “railcar fees” of $2,400

Ms. Smit also revealed that she is going to Europe to share her anti-vax views.

“I have Reignite Freedom, a global organization, and I will soon be traveling Europe on my own money because I still believe that if I keep doing what I feel is right in my heart, somewhere along the line God will to assure.

“So I’m happy to spend the last of my savings on that because what I’ve learned from setting up community groups in Australia will really help me do the same for Europe,” she said.

The RDA website also posted an article saying it was headed for bankruptcy because “we received over $80,000 negative in the past 10 months.”

It also posted a financial statement for the second half of 2022 showing income at $186,693.33, with ages and salaries at $174,052.40.

RFA also spent about $13,000 on website development during that time, more than $10,000 on international travel, and about $7,000 on domestic travel.

Another financial statement, covering the first four months of 2023, showed expenses such as $2,690 for “currency conversion – Paypal” and “car expenses” of $2,400.

“I sacrificed three years of my life on a wage of $500 a week while using my savings and depending on the support of my parents,” Mrs. Smith wrote.

“I don’t regret it for a second, but it’s about time I made tough decisions to secure my future.”

Mrs Smit’s plea for ‘older’ Australians to give her their inheritance was the reason for the SOS Twitter account – which exposes Australian conspiracy theorists – to speak out against the call for cash.

“The sun seems to be setting for ma ma. If she doesn’t get more donations to waste she will close the door for the last time,” SOS tweeted.

Another scornful commentator wrote about the state of Mrs. Smith’s finances.

“So looking at profit/loss (people) donations paid salaries That’s about it… Nothing achieved.”

A former supporter presented their theory as to why the movement is going bankrupt, saying: ‘When Monica Smit linked the RDA wagon to the United Australia Party and became their propaganda distribution platform, the RDA immediately lost a lot of support.

“UAP was not trusted at all by most in the ‘Freedom Movement’ and RDA is circling through that poor decision.”

However, there was some support for Ms Smit, as the commenter said, ‘Maybe the viewers (of her video) should get involved.

“Her passing will leave a hole in the lives of many people.”

WHY VACCINES ARE IMPORTANT

Vaccination is a simple, safe and effective way to protect people against harmful diseases before they come into contact with them.

Vaccination not only protects individuals, but also others in the community, by reducing the spread of preventable diseases.

Research and testing are an essential part of developing safe and effective vaccines.

In Australia, vaccines must pass rigorous safety testing before the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) registers them for use. Vaccine approval can take up to 10 years.

Before vaccines become available to the public, they are tested in thousands of people in large clinical trials.

For many years, high-quality studies have compared the health of large numbers of vaccinated and unvaccinated children. Medical information from nearly 1.5 million children around the world has confirmed that vaccination does not cause autism.

People first became concerned about autism and immunization after the medical journal The Lancet published an article in 1998. This article claimed that there was a link between the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism.

Since then, scientists have completely discredited this article. The Lancet retracted it in 2010 and printed an apology. The British General Medical Council removed the author from the medical register for misconduct and dishonesty.
