Angela Bassett, 65, says she hopes her ‘work ethic’ rubs off on twins Bronwyn and Slater, 18, she shares with husband Courtney B Vance
Angela Bassett hopes her work ethic will rub off on her children as they head off to college.
The 65-year-old actress has twins Bronwyn Golden Vance and Slater Josiah Vance, 18, with husband Courtney B. Vance.
She explained that after “achieving her dreams” during her Hollywood career, she prays that her children will see that “hard work” pays off in the end.
She said this in this week’s edition of People: ‘I have always been a hard worker. You have to know what to say no to, but also what to say yes to.
“And during this time, there have been many things worth saying yes to. But I also hope that the result of that is that they see a mother, a woman, a black woman achieving her dreams and achieving success.”

The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star – who picked up an Academy Honorary Award after receiving two Oscar nominations during her time on screen – added that she always tries to find “the good” in life.
And despite being “overwhelmed” by all the success she’s having this late in life, she’s learned to just “breathe” through it and take it for what it is.
She said, “One of the things I always say to myself and to my children is, ‘Find the good and praise it.’
“The fact that it’s all happening at the same time can be a little overwhelming unless you just breathe through it and remember to be grateful.”
