America’s youngest mayor has responded to critics who disapproved of her historic victory, revealing how she balances her studies with running the city.
Brooke Huckaby, 21, a student at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, became the youngest female mayor in U.S. history after being elected mayor of Arabi, Georgia on November 7.
The young Republican is also a student and part-time employee at the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
Despite her incredible achievements, the villagers doubt her leadership qualities at such a young age.

But this has not deterred her from her goals, as she believes this is the best way to learn more about government.
“How can someone gain experience without putting themselves in the ring?” she said. WALB.
When asked what inspired her to run for office, Huckaby explained, “I would say one thing that really inspired me was the lack of interest in people my age. They don’t really care about politics and that inspired me to take the leap and get a head start on it.
‘The older generation will not always be around to take care of things for us.
“I find it really concerning that people my age are not involved in our economy, politics or other current affairs in the world. I just wanted to be the one to make that change and take that step forward where others don’t.”
The young Republican is also a student and part-time employee at the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
Since taking office, Brooke has typically spent her days studying, signing work orders for the city, working at the Department of Agriculture, and assisting scientists with agricultural research.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m living three different lives because I’m going back and forth between a job interview like this, going to class and then trying to balance it all. I wouldn’t say it’s a struggle, but it is a challenge. A challenge that I feel like I can handle,” the young legislator said.
Her father, Craig Huckaby, who served as the city’s mayor for 12 years, has also served as her mentor since taking on that role.
He recently praised his daughter’s efforts and told Abacstallion that her decision to run away surprised him.

Since Brooke took office, her typical day consists of doing schoolwork, signing work orders for the city, working at the Department of Agriculture, and at the end of the day assisting scientists with agricultural research.
Brooke said she was initially hesitant to tell her father about her political ambitions, keeping her candidacy a secret for several days before going public.
“I think she signed up on a Tuesday, and it wasn’t until Thursday that I heard from my secretary at city hall,” he said.
“I thought maybe I had persuaded her not to do it. I was a bit shocked at the time, but I’m happy, and she’s a smart girl. She’ll do well,” he added.
Brooke replied, “I guess I wanted it to be able to sneak up on him.”

Huckaby has partnered with Southern Fireworks to enhance FiberOptics in Arabia.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Huckaby also works to establish a police department in Arabia.
“When Brooke got there, she made some contacts and got some people to talk to the council and they were convinced to go ahead with it.”
Her father advised her to ‘be careful and listen to both sides.’
In the past, Brooke has also posted photos of herself on social media wearing merchandise in support of former President Donald Trump.
