A mother of five has been criticized for taking Elf on the Shelf ‘too far’ after she cut off a lock of hair from each of her children while they were sleeping and ‘blamed the elf’.
The ‘disrespectful’ move was the latest in a series of elaborate Elf on the Shelf pranks performed by the mother that have been criticized for being ‘wasteful’ and ‘extreme’.
However, US-based Julissa Sahm defends her pranks, saying her children love the “fun” game.

An American mother of five, Julissa Sahm, has been criticized for taking things “too far” with her latest Elf on the Shelf prank.
The enthusiastic mother filmed herself snipping off each of her five children’s hair, then blamed it on her ‘mischievous’ elf. Julissa was immediately called ‘disrespectful’ for the ‘rapist’ joke

Julissa filmed herself cutting off a few inches of hair from each of her five children.

“No child was harmed by doing this,” he added as a disclaimer.
Julissa was immediately criticized in the comments section for her ‘rape’ joke.
‘I don’t understand this trend of cutting children’s hair and clothes while they sleep without their knowledge of the likes. Really disrespectful,’ said one woman.
“That’s too much now,” another commented.
“I just think things like this have to breed mistrust and it’s a total violation of safety and respect. I understand that it is for fun and a joke, but what does this teach children? said a mother.
However, some parents saw the funny side and said they couldn’t wait to try the prank on their own offspring.
The mother said her children love “funny” pranks, but others believe it “brings mistrust and is a total violation of safety and respect.”
“I’m definitely doing this,” one mother commented.
‘I love this! These kids are going to cherish these keepsakes forever! Good job, mom! another wrote.
It’s not the first time Julissa gets crafty with her scissors and blames the elf.
Last year, the mother faced criticism after cutting up her children’s pajamas to make a blanket for the elf.
He filmed himself cutting many small holes in his children’s pajamas while they were sleeping.
At the end of the clip, the elf can be seen using the pajama cutouts as a blanket.
The elf had a note that said: ‘I was cold and couldn’t find a blanket, I hope you don’t mind – Cookie’.
Thousands commented on the video criticizing Julissa for the prank.
“This is bullshit behavior,” said one mother.
“Dumbest, most wasteful idea of the privileged class,” wrote another.
To defend herself, the mother uploaded a follow-up video explaining that the children received new pajamas the next day.
However, the clip proved just as controversial as the elf can be seen holding up six $100 bills for the kids to make up for cutting their pajamas.
