Sympathy for Meghan and Harry among the US media faded on Thursday with the second installment of the couple’s Netflix show, where they complained for three hours about how they think the royal family and the media treated them.
In the last three episodes of their Netflix show, Harry and Meghan turned up the heat with their accusations against the royals, accusing them of being jealous of Meghan’s fame and not understanding her search for love and freedom.
Fox news columnist Lee Cohen said they were on their way to becoming “the most hated royals” in history and that Harry was following in the footsteps of the “maligned” Duke of Windsor.
Even Meghan’s friend Gayle King called the new episodes “dangerous” during CBS Mornings. “Is it fair to say ‘shotgun’?” he asked the network’s royal correspondent, Charlie D’Agata.
At the end of the segment, Gayle, who has been effusive in her praise of the couple thus far, said it was the “correct” decision for the palace not to comment.
“That would seem like the right tact to take from the palace. Harry and Meghan have said all along that they want to tell their story, as they see it. Now they have the opportunity to do it… this sounds very risky.

CNN’s royal correspondent Max Foster said the Palace must now respond to the “very serious” allegations made by Harry and Meghan in the new episodes.
Fox said the couple is now on track to be the “most hated royal” after the Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson.
NBC News was among the outlets that seized on the new accusations leveled against the royal family.
The Washington Post also focused on Harry and Meghan’s accusations against the palace.
Howard Stern criticized the couple for complaining about the intrusion into their lives while displaying them.
Criticism crossed borders, with the Spanish newspaper El País publishing this column this week
“Like the Windsors before them, the Sussexes have fallen out of favor in Britain for their unseemly behaviour.
“But while the Duke of Windsor let his people down by being irresponsible, he and his wife did not seek the limelight in any meaningful way. Nor did they exist, as the Sussexes appear to exist, bent on destroying the monarchy,” Cohen wrote.
CNN, which normally doesn’t particularly care about the issue, took a more assertive stance this morning.
Royal correspondent Max Foster told This Morning hosts Kaitlan Collins, Don Lemon and Poppy Harlow shortly after 6 a.m.: “There’s a lot more here than last time,” referring to the first three episodes of the series.
He repeated the couple’s view that the royal family was “jealous” over the media attention they received, but said: “Of course, this is all entirely from the Sussexes’ point of view.”
