This is the bizarre moment a paraglider spotted a dog wandering around the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza after climbing up to bark at birds.
In the breathtaking footage, which has now gone viral on social media, the dog has climbed the tallest structure built by humans in around 4,000 years.
Alex Lang was hovering above the 140-meter-high Great Pyramid, the largest of the three in Giza, Egypt, when he noticed movement at the top on October 14.
Zooming in on the small flat space at the top of the brick structure, viewers were stunned to see it was a dog wandering around.
After the surprising discovery atop the ancient monument, Lang said the dog had barked at the birds flying above him when he saw the animal.

Lang’s clip was reshared by adventure athlete Marshall Mosher and received more than 592,300 likes.
Impressed viewers were quick to leave their thoughts in the comments section.
“If he (the dog) pees there, the whole of Egypt is his,” said one Instagram user.
Another joked: ‘No dog. That is the Egyptian God Anubis. He is considered the guide of the dead in the afterlife and the protector of the graves. That’s why it’s above the pyramid.’
‘I wonder how long it took. I want him to come down and get some water,” said a third.
It remains unclear whether the pyramid-shaped dog was ultimately saved from his adventure as the incredible clip ended with the pup still on the monument.
It was also not immediately clear how the little dog managed to reach the top of the giant pyramid, or how long he had been there.
After the video made the rounds on Instagram, a user shared it on X, formerly Twitter, where it received more than 5,000 likes within hours.
The user wrote: ‘Dog spotted hanging out at the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.

‘The Great Pyramid of Giza is a whopping 130 meters high, which means the dog had to take a long walk to the top.’
The dog’s ascent, apparently unaided, aroused even more curiosity and amusement on the platform.
One user wrote: ‘That’s his pyramid now. He overcame it.”
Another joked: ‘Sometimes you just gotta climb the highest hill and bark at some birds, man.’
A third added: ‘Those blocks are BIG. That’s a crazy climb for a dog. I’m not convinced.’
Climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza, or any of Egypt’s 118 pyramids, is illegal.
For a chance to see what’s on top of the monument, many tourists often take paragliding trips past the structures, but they don’t often see canines there.

Built around 2580-2565 BC during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu, the majestic structure is the largest of the three pyramids at Giza.
Today, the Great Pyramid is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is protected and preserved through ongoing restoration efforts.
