Police pulling over a slewing truck on an Arizona highway found a 10-year-old driver and his father drinking in the passenger seat.
Call handlers told troopers to look for a red pickup truck around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon after receiving an 911 call reporting the child was “snaking and speeding” along Loop 101 in eastern Phoenix.
The truck was spotted moments later by an officer who tried to flag it down after seeing it weave between lanes near Scottsdale Road.
The officer gave chase after the young driver ignored the officer’s instruction and quickly brought the truck to a stop on the hard shoulder of the 7th Street exit before noticing the unusual arrangement of the occupants.
Alvaro Ovando Alvarez, 49, was found in the passenger seat and is charged with endangerment, having an open bottle of alcohol and unlawfully allowing a minor to drive.
