Alex Jones has admitted she was “a bit surprised” to find out she was pregnant with her third child, 17-month-old Annie.

The 45-year-old One Show host welcomed the new arrival in August 2021, sharing that while it was unexpected, she feels “incredibly lucky.”

She also touched on the heartbreaking miscarriage she suffered in 2017, shortly after giving birth to her eldest son, Teddy.

Appearing on Thursday morning’s episode of Lorraine, Alex opened up about her journey with motherhood while waiting for her new documentary, which focuses on fertility.

‘For me, Annie was a bit of a surprise. When we were supposed to start shooting my new documentary, I found out she was pregnant and I didn’t want to do it while she was pregnant because that’s insensitive. so we waited until Annie was born,’ the presenter began.

Continuing: ‘I know she’s small, but we are so incredibly lucky to have all three children.

Alex also shares five-year-old son Teddy and three-year-old Kit with her husband of almost eight years, Charlie Thomson.

She explained: ‘For me, Annie was a bit of a surprise. When we were supposed to start shooting my new documentary, I found out she was pregnant and I didn’t want to do it while she was pregnant because that’s insensitive. so we waited till annie was born’

During the daytime TV appearance, she also touched on the miscarriage she suffered in 2017, where her son “stopped developing”, shortly after giving birth to Teddy.

“Between having the two children, we had a loss quite late, there were some complications,” the presenter explained.

After experiencing issues with motherhood and welcoming children in her late thirties and early forties, Alex now seeks to tell the stories of others with her new documentary.

Speaking about why he wanted to create the new show, Alex explained: “I don’t think fertility has been covered as much as it should be and I think it’s such a great thing to shine a light on it and give people a chance to understand what others are going through.

‘I didn’t want to go in there as an announcer or the TV girl, I wanted to be really involved.

Ending: “I think it shows the ups and downs, there are some incredible ups and downs and also some devastating bumps and downs for couples that have been trying for years.”
