Alex Beresford breaks down in tears as he WINS Celebrity Race Across The World with his dad after revealing he was ‘knocked’ from the ‘shock’ of THAT GMB clash with Piers Morgan over Meghan Markle

Alex Beresford broke down in tears as he and his father Noel were crowned winners of the Celebrity Race Across the World on Wednesday night.

During the episode, the weather also discussed his explosive on-air clash with Piers Morgan over his comments about Meghan Markle, revealing he was ‘struck’ from the ‘shock’.

Addressing the fallout during the final episode, Alex said he “grew a thick skin” but the incident “made him stronger” as he raced to the finish.

The presenter and his father Noel cheered with excitement as they became the first couple to reach the checkpoint in Tromsø, Norway, while Harry Judd and his mother Emma came in second place.

Alex exclaimed: ‘It feels fantastic that we are now on top of the world. This was the hardest experience I have had, but we had to travel together as men.”

Drama: The episode also discussed his explosive on-air clash with Piers Morgan over his comments about Meghan Markle, revealing he was ‘struck’ by the ‘shock’

“It was unforgettable and something I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

In April 2021, Piers condemned the weatherman for launching a “premeditated attack” during a row with Meghan Markle that cost him his job on Good Morning Britain.

The journalist caused a social media storm after saying he “didn’t believe a word” the Duchess said during her extraordinary interview with US talk show legend Oprah Winfrey.

It led to an explosive on-air clash with Alex, who accused him of ‘destroying’ the Suits actress before Piers stormed the set. Later that day he quit the ITV breakfast show.

Speaking on the BBC show, Alex opened up: ‘I’ve never taken so much time away from work. The pace is different, especially if you work in media.

‘The whole fall of GMB Meghan Markle was definitely a shock to the system to be caught in the middle of a media storm, it was insane.

‘If you receive criticism online, you have to stand up or fold. You have to grow a thick skin very quickly. I was a bit disappointed. But I definitely feel stronger after experiencing it.

“When I look back now, I thank God for my family and friends because those are the people who help you get through it.”

Alex concluded: ‘You can’t dwell on things. You have to move on mentally so that you can move on physically. It was nice to let my hair down, so to speak.”

During the GMB clash, Beresford responded to Morgan’s claims that he was talking to Meghan and that she “dropped” him when she started dating Prince Harry.

He said: ‘I understand you don’t like Meghan Markle, you’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, and I understand you have a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she has cut you off.’

Beresford told Morgan: “She has the right to cut you off if she wants to,” prompting Morgan to then storm the GMB set.
