South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is still in the doghouse over anecdotes shared in her upcoming book.
She was widely criticized for a story about how she shot her 14-month-old wire-haired pointer Cricket after he failed at the pheasant hunt and killed her neighbor’s chickens.
Now two other stories seem to be of great variety: according to Politico.
First, that as a congressman Noem came face to face with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
And second, that former 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley called Noem in 2021 and “threatened” her.

Kristi Noem wrote that she met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un (left) while serving in the House of Representatives, which does not appear to be true. She also said Nikki Haley (right) called her in 2021 and ‘threatened’ her
Noem signs up No Turning Back: The Truth About What’s Wrong With Politics and How We Move America Forward that “My tenure on the House Armed Service Committee has given me the opportunity to travel to many countries to meet with world leaders.”
“I remember meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un,” she said. “I’m sure he underestimated me because he had no idea of my experience staring down little tyrants (after all, I had been a children’s pastor).”
While former President Donald Trump met Kim three times during his presidency, Noem served in Congress from 2007 to 2011, when relations were frosty.
When Politico brought up how unlikely this meeting would be, Noem’s spokesperson seemed to admit it was fiction.
“We have been advised that the book will be addressed by the publisher with the names of combined world leaders before it is released,” said spokesman Ian Fury.
Noem also said she received a call from Haley in the summer of 2021.
At the time, Haley was in the private sector and was among the former Trump administration officials who spoke out against his actions on January 6.
Noem was halfway through her first term.
The South Dakota governor said Haley told her she was “more than willing to be a mentor.”
After what seemed like a bit of an awkward pause, she added, “I just… also want you to know one more thing… I’ve heard a lot of good things about you. But I also want you to know. that if I hear anything bad…I’ll be sure to let you know,” Noem claimed, Haley said.
Noem said she interpreted what Haley said as a threat.
“I think I just got threatened by Nikki Haley?” Noem recalled calling her assistant and sharing. “Yeah, I’m pretty sure I just got threatened by Nikki Haley. It was clear she wanted me to know that there was only room for one Republican woman in the spotlight. It was weird.’
What was even stranger is that Haley’s spokesperson had no record of it.
Spokesperson Chaney Denton looked back at the former U.N. ambassador’s calendar and discovered that Haley Noem had called in 2020, not 2021.
“Nikki has long been calling and writing notes to support other women during difficult times,” Denton told Politico. “She called Governor Noem in 2020 to encourage her when she was criticized for keeping her state open during COVID.”
“How she would turn that into a threat is just plain weird,” Denton said.
In a statement to DailyMail.com, Fury blamed Noem’s ghostwriter.
“It has been brought to our attention that the forthcoming book ‘No Going Back’ contains two minor errors,” Fury said on Friday. “This has been passed on to the ghostwriter and editor.”
‘Kim Jong Un was on a list of world leaders and should not have done that. The governor spoke with Nikki Haley in 2020 and met with her in 2021,” he added.
Fury said that since the book isn’t out until May 7, future editions will be corrected.
“The media will Of course, try to make these small issues big, but will continue to downplay Joe Biden’s repeated and false claims that he was in prison with Nelson Mandela, started the civil rights movement, drove an 18-wheeler and his uncle was eaten by cannibals. also offered.
