AFL star Brodie Grundy has announced his engagement to his long-time girlfriend, physiotherapist Rachael Wertheim.
The Swans recruit, 29, let the exciting news slip during a press conference on Monday as he discussed the move from Melbourne to Sydney for the AFL.
“I was so impressed with the Swans pitch and the first meeting I had I walked out with my now fiancée and we were just blown away,” he told the media.
“We walked out and thought it would be great to end up in Sydney.”
The lovebirds grew up together in Adelaide and after they started dating, Rachael moved to Melbourne with Brodie when he was signed to Collingwood FC.

They have lived together for several years and share two dogs, Ava and Sam.
Grundy also revealed they would be living in scenic North Bondi once they complete their move.
“We came into pre-season and were actually sitting on the North Bondi lawn daydreaming about what it would be like to live here. Funnily enough, it manifested,” he began.

'We found a place in North Bondi and the second day I went surfing. It's just those extra little bonuses.”
The Adelaide-born athlete started his career with the Collingwood Magpies, for whom he played from 2013 to 2022.
He signed with the Melbourne Dees last year and played for them throughout 2023 before announcing his move to the Sydney Swans.
In 2018 he was crowned winner of the Herald Sun Player of the Year award.
