Battle of the AFL reporters as journalists ‘clash in the changing rooms’ in row over Channel Seven’s commentary team – with one ‘calling his rival a bogan and an idiot’

- The journalist of The Age recently announced this at AFL game
- Some NRL reporters also openly dislike each other
Two leading AFL journalists recently engaged in a verbal stoush in front of other media after the Good Friday clash between Carlton and North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium, it has been reported.
Seven News Melbourne’s Tom Browne lashed out at The Age’s Mark McGowan in the Blues’ dressing room, according to the Announce sun.
The stoush occurred after McGowan fired on the broadcaster’s commentary for Brisbane’s victory over Collingwood on April 6.
He tweeted‘Can’t we just watch the game without BT? [Brian Taylor] telling us every second how close Collingwood is to getting back into this.”
Browne is a colleague of Taylor’s at the free-to-air network.
He and McGowan allegedly exchanged a series of angry words, with Browne reportedly calling his rival a “bogan” and an “idiot.”

Former Fox Footy reporter Tom Morris was fired last year after comments about colleague Megan Barnard’s sexuality
When it comes to rugby league, NRL360’s Paul Kent and Roar.com’s Mike Meehall Wood don’t like each other
It is believed McGowan fired back, referring to Browne as a “fool.”
The reported clash is the latest in a series of headline-grabbing incidents involving footy journalists.
AFL reporter Tom Morris was fired by Fox Sports last March after an internal investigation found he had ‘crossed a line’ when he made outrageous comments about colleague Megan Barnard’s sexuality, which were later leaked.
“Our culture at Fox Sports is based on a respectful, inclusive environment and fair opportunity for all,” Fox Sports executive director Steve Crawley said after Morris’s departure.
While Tom’s journalism has made a valuable contribution to Fox Sports, his behavior crossed the line. It was unacceptable.’
Morris recently returned to the industry on SEN Radio, teaming up with Sarah Olle as a Sunday Crunch Time co-host.
In rugby league, The Daily Telegraph’s Phil ‘Buzz’ Rothfield is not on par with Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould.
And at the launch of Code’s 2023 season, Paul Kent of NRL360 and Mike Meehall Wood of Roar.com reportedly had a “heated confrontation.”
It followed Meehall Wood posting a series of blunt tweets and opinions about Kent in the lead up to the feature.
