AFL great Brent Harvey had to wait almost an hour for an ambulance after suffering a horrific broken leg during a local footy match.
The former footy star, who holds the record for most appearances in VFL/AFL with 432 appearances, was playing in the Northern Football League for North Heidelberg when he suffered the injury.
Harvey, 44, was carried off the pitch and was clearly in pain, but it took an ambulance around 50 minutes to arrive on the ground and help the former North Melbourne star.
He is now in the hospital and will undergo surgery. Harvey has played regularly for the local footy club since his retirement in 2016, although he is now expected to be sidelined for some time.
“He was carried off the field in obvious pain,” 7NEWS reporter Kate Massey revealed.

Harvey made his debut for North Melbourne in 1996 and went on to play 21 seasons for the football club, overtaking Michal Tuck’s record (426) in his senior year.
He was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame last year, and fans caught a glimpse of him last week when he appeared on half-time ‘Kick for the Kids’ during the Kangaroos-Blues match on Good Friday.
