Adam Sandler’s London antics: From surprising basketball games, to resting on the steps of Claridge’s hotel and cheering on Chelsea

He’s been out and about in London this week, shocking fans with his pop-ups in surprising locations.

Adam Sandler definitely seems to be a fan of the capital and when he’s not filming his upcoming projects, the 57-year-old actor prefers to keep it low key and isn’t afraid to mingle with the locals.

On Wednesday he left fans stunned when he took part in a game of basketball at the South West London court in Clapham Common.

The Murder Mystery star is known for his love of American sports and previously appeared in the basketball film Hustle (2022).

Keeping it casual, Adam opted for a relaxed look for the day, with a light blue hoodie and red track pants.

On Wednesday he left fans stunned when he took part in a game of basketball on the court at Clapham Common in South West London.

A clip of the actor playing was shared on social media, with one X user writing: ‘I just walked past Adam Sandler playing basketball at Clapham.’

It’s not the first time the Grown Ups star has been stuck in a game, after leaving fans stunned while playing at the Kensington Leisure Center last month.

The star appeared to be stuck in the game in a clip shared on TikTok as he was put through his paces by the players.

Noticeably shorter than his teammates, Adam also seemed to have forgotten his sportswear as he walked around in a Hawaiian print summer shirt.

While he enjoyed the game, he completed the look with a pair of gray sweatpants and his burgundy Hoka sneakers.

Meanwhile, Adam looked a little less energetic on Tuesday while he paused to rest in the middle of Mayfair.

Fans were surprised to see him take a seat outside the door of the five-star Claridge’s hotel, enjoying a moment to himself as he scrolled through his phone.

Adam opted for sporty attire for the day out as he wore bright blue shorts and a beige North Face padded jacket as he hit the pavement.

The actor stood up at one point when both teams were deadlocked at halftime (1-1).

He paired the workout shorts with some bold red sneakers with yellow laces, while his bright purple hoodie peeked out from under his jacket.

Basketball isn’t the only sport Adam is a fan of, having also been spotted at Stamford Bridge last month cheering on Chelsea against Newcastle.

It’s no secret that Hollywood’s highest-paid actor is a fan of the Blues, having once attended a West London derby match involving Chelsea and Fulham 15 years ago. Tribal football.

He even remembered how spontaneous it was to go to the match, which ended up being a victory for Chelsea at the time.

He told local London radio: ‘My friend opened the paper and saw an advert for the game. He said, ‘Do you want to go to a football match?’ I said, ‘Yes, that’s a great idea, I’ve never been there before.’

‘So we all went there and they were really nice, we were at Fulham vs. Chelsea and it was in an old fashioned location (Craven Cottage). We sat in the Chelsea section and the tunes were rocking!

The star is also often spotted with his wife Jackie, 49, and their daughters Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15, while out and about in the capital.

The couple met on the set of 1999’s Big Daddy and have been together ever since.
