Veteran ABC weather presenter Paul Higgins left his social media followers confused after announcing he had left the ABC before returning to the airwaves.

The Victorian weatherman shared a message with X, explaining that he had ‘decided to go in a different direction’.

“For those wondering where I ended up on ABC channel, they have decided to go in a different direction. Thank you to everyone I spoke to and interacted with during my deployment. Appreciate your comments! #abcnewschannel,” he wrote.

Despite the announcement, Higgins appeared on ABC’s 24-hour news channel.

‘I never heard about the change directly from the news channel. “I was told they were not happy with my leave,” he said.

“But apparently they were more than satisfied with my work.”

He also wrote on X: ‘Thank you for all your kind thoughts! Just to reiterate, I’m still on the 7pm Victoria news. Just no more ABC News Channel.”

An ABC spokesperson also told the publication that Higgins will remain the Victorian weather presenter.

It comes after the reason behind ABC star Lisa Millar’s lengthy absence from the hit News Breakfast show was revealed a month after she disappeared.

In recent weeks, her cohost, Michael Rowland, co-hosted the show with Emma Rebellato, sparking rumors that Millar had left the network.

‘Where have you been the last few weeks? Are you on extended leave from ABC News Breakfast?’ said one fan. “A lot of people think you left the show.”

However, on Tuesday morning, ABC quashed the rumors and officially confirmed that Millar would return to News Breakfast on March 27 after completing her filming commitments for Back Roads.
