Soon-to-be-released New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is about to undergo a physical with the AFC East franchise.

A trade to send Rodgers to Florham Park, NJ. was agreed Monday night in what was essentially a trade for No. 12 in exchange for a second pick in 2023 and a conditional first-round pick in 2024.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoportthe transaction will become official before the Draft when Rodgers has its physical Wednesday, as currently scheduled.

Rapoport also reported that the Jets have snapped up Rodgers’ $58.3 million guaranteed option bonus, meaning his cap for 2023 will be $15.7 million.

The move also creates $43.7 million in cap space for the resurgent Florham Park franchise.

In total, New York receives not only Rodgers, but also the number 15 from the Packers and a fifth-round pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

In return, Green Bay will receive the Jets’ 13th overall draft pick, plus the second and sixth rounds, and a conditional second-round pick in 2024, which will become a first if Rodgers plays 65 percent of snaps this season.

Naturally, following the coverage of the trade, traditional and social media erupted with differing opinions about the move for Rodgers — who will wear his University of Cal number, No. 8, next season.

Regularly outspoken ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III said the Jets are now “bona fide Super Bowl contenders” but at the same time have been “absolutely taken aback” by Green Bay in the trade.

As soon-to-be teammates Breece Hall, Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson all tweet in celebratory fashion on Monday night.

Even Zach Wilson’s mom applauded the move by owner Woody Johnson, GM Joe Douglas and coach Robert Saleh on her Instagram.
