Major update in Angel Reese injury battle after WNBA star revealed her rookie season was over
Angel Reese has undergone successful surgery on her broken wrist, which ended her debut season in the WNBA prematurely.
Reese announced Saturday that she will not play this season after injuring her left wrist.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury during the Chicago Sky’s win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, when she fell hard on her hand and suffered a hairline fracture.
On Tuesday evening, Sky released a statement saying: ‘Angel Reese has undergone successful surgery on a broken left wrist and is taking steps towards a healthy recovery.’
Reese will be in a cast for six weeks, the team added, “She is expected to begin her rehabilitation in the coming weeks.”

The 22-year-old previously explained why she was going under the knife. ‘The doctors told me I could either not have surgery or I could have surgery. The risk of not having surgery – I could literally have arthritis at 22. That was not an option,’ she said.
“The bone could literally crack and completely shatter. Right now it’s like a hairline… they’re going to put a little screw in there. And I didn’t want it to get any bigger.”
Earlier this week, Reese had to deny rumors that her pregnancy was the real reason she was eliminated from the rest of the season.
Following speculation online, the Chicago Sky star issued a statement denying that she wanted children “anytime soon.”
“I’m not pregnant, that never happened,” Reese said. “I want to make this crystal clear, crystal clear, crystal clear.
“I don’t have a man to have kids. I don’t have a ring to have kids. I’m 22 and I don’t have kids, and I’m not coming home to have kids. So that’s not going to happen anytime soon.”
