Hundreds arrive at the memorial of an acclaimed architect and mother of two who died in the Bondi massacre.
Jade Young, 47, was one of six people killed when Joel Cauchi carried out a violent stabbing attack at Bondi Junction Westfield on April 13.
About 400 people are expected to honor her life at a public memorial at the Calyx in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens at 11am on Tuesday.

“Dearly loved and irreplaceable wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and beloved friend to many,” her obituary read.

In a statement from the family Tuesday morning, they said her death “has devastated our world.”
“While we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from friends and the community, Jade’s death has left a gaping hole in our lives,” the statement said. “Her children were her life, and we do not want their future to be determined by her death.” A GoFundMe page has raised more than $235,000 to provide the family with financial support as they mourn her death.
Her friend Nicole Roma said she was a “special soul” who “touched so many lives.”
Earlier on Tuesday, surf club members paddled out of Bondi at first light to honor those injured and killed in the Bondi Junction stabbing attack.
Tuesday’s tribute comes as four patients remain in various hospitals in the city, 10 days after the attack.
Members of twelve surfing clubs between Bondi and Bronte gathered before dawn on Tuesday morning and paddled out to sea in a somber show of solidarity with the victims, their families and the wider community.
At least 160 board riders formed a circle in the water, their brightly colored club shirts illuminated by the first light of the day.
Six victims were killed in the attack on nearby Bondi Junction Westfield shopping centre; Cheng Yixuan, 27, Pikria Darchia, 55, Ashlee Good, 38, Dawn Singleton, 25, Faraz Ahmed Tahir, 30, and Jade Young, 47.
Attacker Joel Cauchi, 40, was shot dead by a police officer after physically wounding another 12 people.
On Monday evening, NSW Health said a female victim had been discharged from St Vincent Hospital in the past day.
Four patients, two men and two women, are all in stable conditions in different hospitals.
