Former world champion boxer ‘unwittingly received drug packages including cocaine and meth from Los Angeles traffickers’

Former Australian world boxing champion Jeff Fenech is embroiled in a drug trafficking case in the United States.
This is evident from American court documents revealed by The guardFenech, 59, was the unwitting recipient of packages containing narcotics, including cocaine and methamphetamine.
The package delivery was part of an alleged drug trafficking organization operating between the United States and Australia.
No charges have been filed against the three-weight world champion, while his lawyer has insisted he is not a suspect in any criminal offence.
Fenech was named in an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in California as part of the indictment against an individual named Moustapha Moustapha.

The Australian boxing champion was the unwitting recipient of an alleged drug package
Moustapha has been charged with possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, and is reportedly a member of the Moustapha DTO (Drug Trafficking Organization).
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
The affidavit alleges that Fenech was allegedly an intended recipient for an unspecified number of deliveries =, The deliveries consisted of “24 packages containing 24 kg of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine.”
The court document does not allege that Fenech was part of the DTO.
The affidavit adds that the packages allegedly sent from the US to Australia were intercepted by federal police in Australia in December.
A US special agent based in Australia claims Australian Federal Police then carried out an undercover package delivery to Fenech’s Sydney home.
Fenech is not charged with any criminal offense and his lawyer anticipates possible charges
‘After the package was delivered to the home, AFP saw Fenech pick up the package. After witnessing Fenech collecting the package, AFP executed search warrants at the residence… and interviewed Fenech.”
In the interview, Fenech allegedly stated “that he had been collecting packages for a long time…Fenech stated that he believed the packages contained luxury watches and was unaware that the packages contained drugs,” the special agent said.
The former boxer’s lawyer said he is not a suspect in any criminal offence, adding that no criminal charges have been brought or are expected against him.
