Sydney police officer’s son is charged with allegedly repeatedly raping his nine-year-old daughter
The son of a veteran police officer has been accused of raping his teenage daughter several times over the past four years.
The Western Sydney man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested in November 2023 after his now 13-year-old daughter spent three hours telling police about her alleged sexual abuse.
He has been charged with 25 rape and sexual acts.
NSW Police will allege the father, who is now 33 years old and works as a civil servant, started abusing the girl when she was just nine years old.
She allegedly told police that her father would abuse her while her mother and brother were out of the house.

The young girl claimed the abuse lasted for four years until she finally broke down and told her close friends and mother last year.
The man spent more than three months behind bars before he was granted bail by the NSW Supreme Court last month.
Part of the conditions of his bail include him living with his father and mother, a high-ranking officer in the Sydney Basin with 30 years of police experience.
“I can monitor any bail conditions imposed on (my son) and be with him if necessary,” the officer wrote in an affidavit. Daily telegram reported.
“I have come to grips with these types of issues in my work as a police officer and can assure the court that I will endeavor to keep a close eye and supervision on my son.”
Court documents show that the girl was sexually abused between 2019 and 2023.
NSW Police allege the father raped his now 13-year-old daughter repeatedly over the course of four years
She first told her best friend about the alleged abuse in July last year.
She said: ‘I have been sexually abused by my father for the past four years,’ the court heard.
The now 13-year-old told her boyfriend a few months later and then told her mother.
When her mother asked why she hadn’t told her about the alleged abuse sooner, the girl said, “I kept hoping he would change.”
Prosecutors argued against the father’s bail, highlighting the victim’s “detailed and specific” accounts of the alleged abuse.
The man, a civil servant, was released on bail and the case went to trial later this year
However, the man’s lawyer noted that his client would be subject to strict conditions if released, and said the case against him would “rise and fall” depending on whether jurors believe the young girl’s evidence.
Judge Deborah Sweeney granted the man strict bail and allowed him to continue working in his public service during the day.
Outside of working hours, he lives with his parents and is not allowed to leave their home unless attending court, legal conferences or in case of emergency.
He was also not allowed to spend time with anyone under the age of 16.
The case will go to trial later this year.
