Nancy Pelosi has called for an FBI investigation into pro-Palestinian protesters, claiming they are financially backed by Russia.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives joined Dana Bush during Sunday’s State of the Union address on CNN, when Bush asked Pelosi what she thought about the numerous protests that have taken place in connection with the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas .

“Some are connected to Russia, and I say that after looking at this for a long time,” she said.

Pelosi said she has encountered protesters herself and that “we have to think about what we do.”

“And what we have to do is try to stop the suffering in Gaza. These are women and children, people who have no place to go, so let’s do something about that,” Pelosi said.

‘But calling for a ceasefire is Mr Putin’s message. Mr Putin’s message – make no mistake, this is directly related to what he would like to see,” she added.

Pelosi also said that “we have to try to stop the suffering in Gaza” before going on to say that some protests are “connected to Russia.”

Although she did not substantiate her claims, Pelosi continued to insist that Russian President Vladimir Putin is behind the pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

‘The same goes for Ukraine. It’s about Putin’s message. I think some of these protesters are spontaneous, organic and sincere,” she asserted, saying others were backed by Russia.

Bush then asked Pelosi if she thought the protests were “Russian factories” as Pelosi suggested the finances should be investigated.

“I think there should be an investigation into certain financings, and I would ask the FBI to investigate that,” Pelosi said.

Putin previously labeled the Israeli-Hamas conflict a “catastrophe” and said his main priority is to “secure Russia’s survival” while “denazifying” Ukraine during a year-end press conference .

The Russian president further said that no comparisons could be made with the war in Ukraine and that he was determined to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
