One person blamed the wrong gift for ruining their daughter's Christmas, saying: 'I got my little girl a drone. He went up in the air the first time and just kept going and going and going. That was eight hours ago. Could still go'.
A user with the title 'Grammy' shared a similar experience, adding: 'This happened to my grandson today too. It was one of those ball 'drones' with a motor. You throw it, it flies around and it should come back. But that didn't happen. It flew past the neighbor's house and out of sight.”
A man describes a painful breakup that would now forever be synonymous with the holidays: A man berated his now ex-girlfriend for cheating on him: “My ex told me she was going to spend the night with her mother on Christmas Eve because she missed her.
'I said, “Yes, that's your mother, go spend time with her” and that we met in the morning. Her mother calls me on Christmas morning asking to talk to her, but she can't get a hold of her.
'I said, “She should be there, correct.” Her mother said, “No, she didn't see her all night.” That's how I found out she was cheating on me.
Several social users have blamed their grandmothers, ex-partners and even their own parents for stealing the festive joy from among them
Edit: Thanks everyone for your words. I am doing well and I will get through everything well. I'm going to live with family for a while. And for anyone who's curious: we were together for five years.'
One user said: 'My sister brought her dog and he immediately ran over and threw it all over my child's presents like he'd been planning to do it all year.'
Another person accused his mother of being “possessed by a demon” on Christmas Day. They explained, “My mother. She was screaming at my dad like a banshee around 6am. All my father did was put water in the coffee maker. When you put water in it, it immediately starts brewing. I guess that was too early in the morning to start the coffee? I'm not sure what her beef was.
“For context, for the first time in years, my entire immediate family was all under one roof for an extended period of time. During the holidays we stayed with my grandmother. My mother has always suffered from fits of anger.
“Growing up, she would often explode. I haven't been there in nine years, and neither have my brothers, but we had an ugly reminder of her behavior yesterday morning.
'My father doesn't believe in divorce. He works nights to avoid her. They pass like ships in the night. They have separate bedrooms and separate lives. My father's uncle just passed away, so we all came together. We don't normally celebrate Christmas together.
'I paid too much to fly home today, so I didn't attend Christmas dinner. I left two days before everyone else. I can not do it. It's like she's possessed by a demon.'
Deviating from the hilarious anecdotes, the following serious story was revealed by a user: 'My mother invited my cousin who was harassing my daughter and told us we could leave if we couldn't just get over it.
“It happened five months ago and he is still in a court-ordered youth program. In her mind, I have ruined her family by reporting this beloved grandchild to the police.”
