Shannen Doherty says she's looking forward to ending a “turbulent” year filled with “some huge health issues, some huge personal issues” and “a lot of heartbreak and anxiety.”
Doherty, 52, speaks on her podcast Let's be clear On Monday, she said she was “so grateful that she could actually be here” after battling cancer for eight years.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 star appeared over the holidays with her mother Rosa Doherty on her podcast, which she launched earlier this month.
“This year is about just being incredibly grateful that we're here, and we get to spend time with the people who are by our side through thick and thin, who don't walk away, who love us unconditionally, and who share the same beliefs and morals and standards and people of character,” Doherty said.
Doherty, who played Brenda Walsh on the Fox hit from 1990 to 1994, said she 'even had to make an appointment' [her] cancer infusions true [she] would be completely recovered by Christmas.'

Doherty was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in February 2020.
Doherty shared on social media in June a clip of her heading for a surgical procedure to remove a tumor from her head, taken on January 16, 2023.
Also in January, Doherty and ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko split, and she revealed they divorced in April amid “irreconcilable differences.”
Doherty claimed that Iswarienko, to whom she had been married since 2011, was unfaithful to her, which he denies. Doherty was previously married twice: to Ashley Hamilton from 1993 to 1994 and to Rick Salomon from 2002 to 2003.
Doherty said Monday that despite the series of obstacles, she was in a calm place as 2023 “ended well” for her.
“With all that, I've discovered… I said this to myself the other day: 'God, I think I'm actually starting to live the happiest version of myself,'” Doherty said.
She continued, “Even though it's been a controversial year for me, for some reason it feels like it's become a lot lighter and more positive lately.”
Doherty said her heart “opened up again” and that “next year is going to be wonderful.”

On a lighter note, Doherty, who also starred in the 1998-2001 series Charmed, caused some controversy with her new podcast after saying earlier this month that Alyssa Milano and her family were causing “a weird rift” between her and Holly Marie. Combs on the set of the WB show.
Doherty played the role of Prue Halliwell in 67 episodes of the WB show Charmed from 1998-2001, leaving after the third of the show's eight seasons.
Combs, 50, said producers told her Milano had issued an ultimatum that she or Doherty would leave the series, threatening legal action claiming a hostile work environment.
She added: “There are actually people who behave badly and get away with it. I don't think people understand that this never happened here.”
