One person is stabbed to death and another is injured after ‘assailant shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ before attacking passersby in central Paris near the Eiffel Tower’ – as suspect ‘who said he hated Muslims being killed’ is arrested

One person has been killed and another injured after an attacker allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” before attacking passers-by in central Paris.

The attacker – who launched the attack near the Eiffel Tower – was born in France and is French, a French police source said.

They said the suspect shouted 'Allahu Akbah'.

They added that the attacker was known for his psychiatric disorders and had said he could not bear to see Muslims being killed around the world.

One person died and another was injured, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday.

“The police have just courageously arrested an attacker who attacked passers-by in Paris, around the Quai de Grenelle,” the minister wrote.

'One deceased and one injured treated by the Paris fire brigade. Please avoid the area.”

The injured person is being treated.

The Quai de Grenelle – a road that runs along the River Seine – is less than a mile from the Eiffel Tower.

A security cordon is said to have been placed near the iconic monument.

The anti-terrorism prosecutor's office said it has not yet conducted an investigation.
