Jerry O’Connell on why he’s stayed mum on remarks about his wife Rebecca Romijn that her ex-husband John Stamos made about their divorce: It would ‘be bringing the attention to a situation that I don’t want to feed into’
Jerry O’Connell addressed in his new book why he has not publicly responded to inflammatory comments about his wife Rebecca Romijn by her ex-husband John Stamos.
The New York City native, 49, on the CBS shows The Talk On Monday, he said he did not want to go into detail about Stamos’ comments about Romijn because “there are children involved.”
He said: ‘My wife’s ex-husband recently wrote a biography which referred to my wife in a negative way. And a lot of people have asked me about that in the press, and I could easily say, ‘Fuck, how dare you ask me that?’
The actor, who has appeared in films such as Jerry Maguire and Stand By Me, said that commenting on Stamos’ comments would “draw attention to a situation that I do not want to participate in.”
The Crossing Jordan star and the Berkeley, California-born beauty, 51, tied the knot two years after her divorce from Stamos, 60, to whom she was married from 1998 to 2005.
The latest: Jerry O’Connell, 49, on Monday addressed why he hasn’t publicly responded to inflammatory comments about his wife Rebecca Romijn, 51, by her ex-husband John Stamos, 60, in his new book If You Would Have Have told me
O’Connell and Romijn, 51, married in 2007, two years after her divorce from Stamos, 60, to whom she was married from 1998 to 2005.
O’Connell and Romijn are parents to 14-year-old twin daughters Charlie Tamara Tulip and Dolly Rebecca Rose.
“There are children involved, teenage children who read everything on the internet; so you don’t want to fuel that fire,” O’Connell said, drawing applause from the studio audience.
In an interview with People Last month, to promote his new memoir If You Would Have Told Me, Stamos said he was bitter toward Romijn during the end of their marriage.
“In my mind at the time, she was the devil, and I just hated her,” Stamos told the publication. “I couldn’t believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life.”
He later added, “It was very much the opinion that she dumped me because her career was going great and mine wasn’t, and that’s humiliating.
‘I don’t blame her. It was just the perception people had, and maybe they weren’t wrong. She was doing great then and I wasn’t.’
O’Connell said last month that he and his wife received no warning from the Full House star before he wrote about them in his new memoir.
Appearing on Access Hollywood on October 23, O’Connell told hosts Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover that he and his wife learned about the book after it had already been released.

“We don’t get any warning,” he said. “We’ll find out just like everyone else.”
O’Connell subsequently declined to comment on whether or not his wife was shocked by Stamos, 60,’s comments about their divorce in his book, which was released on October 24.
“It’s not really my place to say that,” he said in response to the question. ‘I’d rather my wife talk about that. My wife and I are doing so well today.”
In his new memoir, Stamos spoke candidly about his “failed” first marriage to the former model.
In the People interview, Stamos also revealed that he was “shattered” after they ended their seven-year marriage and said he “hated her” during their divorce.
The General Hospital vet confessed, “My first marriage was a disaster for me. I’ve also been broken for far too long.
“I mean, a year, okay, fine,” he continued. “But it took years and years.”
Stamos said that after their divorce, he relied heavily on alcohol as a coping mechanism and only dealt with his resentment toward her after going through the steps in AA.

Stamos also revealed that he has kept a special gift that his ex-wife gave him when they were together.
In Stamos’ bombastic memoir, he talks about his alcoholism and his admission to rehab. He also talked about discovering that his late friend and Full House costar, Bob Saget, had passed away.
He also opened up about sexual abuse and revealed that he had undergone multiple nose jobs early in his career.
