Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s rustic home office: Couple show off decor – including a gold telescope, giant jute rug and ‘I love you California picture’ – in Heart Of Invictus documentary
From a luxurious dog bed to a telescope to a ‘California anthem’ poster, Prince Harry offered fans a rare glimpse into his life with Meghan Markle in his new documentary.
In The Heart of Invictus, which appeared on Netflix today, the 38-year-old is prominently featured.
And fans also got a glimpse into his home life, with a striking plant, a giant jute rug and, surprisingly, a series of family photos on his desk.
Perhaps the most obvious nod to the California lifestyle was that Harry’s desk contained a huge oversized water bottle, as well as an Apple laptop, all on a rustic table.
1. California national anthem poster
The bear is still here! Prince Harry was filmed in front of a framed print titled ‘I Love You, California’ that was first spotted at a Zoom meeting the Duchess of Sussex attended in 2020
The title of the work, which is on the mantelpiece, is the national anthem of her American home state. Published in 1913, the tune was adopted by the Sunshine State in 1951 and confirmed as the official song in 1987

A portrait that fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have seen before hangs on the rustic fireplace behind Prince Harry.
In September 2020, just months after the couple started their new life in Montecito, the framed print entitled ‘I Love You, California’ first appeared as the Duchess of Sussex joined a Zoom meeting to launch her sold-out Smart Set collection.
Nearly three years later, the print, featuring a bear holding a California banner, is still in first place, propped up on the mantelpiece. The title of the work is the national anthem of her American home state. Published in 1913, the tune was adopted by the Sunshine State in 1951 and confirmed as the official song in 1987.
2. Antique telescope
Starry night, starry night: a gold and dark wood telescope sits in the corner of the couple’s office
The gilded slice of California in Sussex is blessed with a beautiful night sky, and a telescope in the study – seemingly a new addition to the couple’s office – suggests that Harry and Meghan might be stargazing.
The gold telescope, placed on dark wooden legs, could obviously be purely decorative, but its placement in the corner of the room, perfectly positioned close to a window, suggests that it is ready to use.
3. Oversized water bottles
Thirsty? Oversized water bottles can be seen on Prince Harry’s desk during the Heart of Invictus documentary
Given that one of Prince Harry’s son Archie’s first words was “hydrate,” it makes sense that the Duke of Sussex has a large bottle of water on his desk.
On the edge of the large desk are not one, but two tall glass bottles with swing caps.
During a light-hearted moment in Meghan and Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Meghan said their chatty son’s new favorite word was “moisturize,” a week after his doting dad told James Cordon’s Late Late Show that Archie’s first word was surprisingly enough would have been ‘crocodile’.
4. Houseplant statement
Adding to the natural decor of the room is a large houseplant, which is placed near two of the office’s windows to take advantage of the light
Since the light streams into the room where Harry and Meghan regularly have their Zoom conversations, this is the perfect place for a houseplant.
Another new addition to their office appears to be a towering houseplant that reaches to the ceiling from its oversized pot.
5. Rustic table
The long table, in trendy distressed wood, has been seen on camera several times as the couple filmed in their office
The centerpiece of the room, the large rustic table on which Prince Harry sets his Apple laptop, has been featured extensively in the interviews recorded at the couple’s home.
With stylish turned legs and a distressed look, the dining table is used by the couple as a desk, and is long enough for both the Duke and Duchess to sit comfortably if they want to sit side by side while working.
6. Giant jute rug
Under the table in the office is a large natural fiber rug, probably jute or wheatgrass
To complement the wood floors in the den, the couple added an oversized natural fiber rug to add some comfort, but in keeping with their favorite natural materials and neutral colors.
It probably also has a practical use: protecting the wooden floor from the legs of that eye-catching table.
7. Family photos

Although Harry has a strained relationship with his family, there seem to be some family photos on his desk.

Luxury abounds in Harry and Meghan’s California abode, and their puppies are no exception.

Harry said at the 2022 WellChild Awards: ‘The three of them storm around chasing squirrels and causing us all sorts of trouble every day. But they are also emotional dogs that provide 100% emotional support when they behave.”
The couple have also adopted chickens, which they claim were rescued from battery farms, and now live with them in their new home.
10. Glasses Cases

The prince recently posed with women’s sunglasses on a shopping trip to bring home treats for wife Meghan from his solo trip to Japan.
The Duke of Sussex was accompanied by his friend, polo player Nacho Figueras, who posted on Instagram that they were “shopping for our women” in central Tokyo.
