A new report has revealed the top US cell phone provider in the US – and more than 300 million Americans might want to consider switching.

T-Mobile was crowned Best Service in a July 2023 report, beating Verizon and AT&T in six of eight categories, including download and upload speed, live video and gaming experiences and consistency.

Verizon won best voice app experience and AT&T took first place for network availability, beating the competition by 0.2 percent.

However, T-Mobile offers the fastest download and upload experience of the three, making it the best provider in the US.

Opensignal analyzed millions of smartphones and billions of readings for the report that spanned March 16 to June 13 and shared the information Wednesday.

T-Mobile has 260 million users nationwide, Verizon 142.8 million and AT&T 290 million.

T-Mobile turned out to have a download speed experience score of 97.1 Mbps, followed by AT&T at 57 Mbps – an increase of 6.7 Mbps from the previous report.

“This is the fourth report in which T-Mobile wins the Download Speed ​​Experience and it has increased its lead over its competitors each time,” Opensignal shared in its report.

“T-Mobile also leads for Upload Speed ​​Experience, beating Verizon at 3.4 Mbps (up from 2.8 Mbps) – so it takes the award outright with a score of 11.7 Mbps.”

The analytics company looked at Consistent Quality for the first time and also found T-Mobile to be the best.

Consistent quality quantifies how often users’ experience on a network is sufficient to support several more demanding common applications used for a range of everyday tasks.

It measures download speed, upload speed, latency, jitter, packet loss, and time to first byte.

T-Mobile scored 79.8 percent, Verizon trailed the winner by 3.1 percentage points, and AT&T came in third with a score of 75.2 percent.

T-Mobile was top for Live Video Experience, scoring 47.3 out of 100, putting it 1.9 points ahead of Verizon.

Live Video Experience Score consists of a series of measures that affect users’ perceived viewing experience, including, for example, initial lag, total lag time, but also live offset – the time difference between real-time and the current playback position that a viewer sees, according to the report.

“Live video measures the experience of streaming live events such as watching sports in real time, concerts or streaming games.”

However, Verizon outperformed T-Mobile regarding Voice App Experience – with a score of 77.4 points, just 0.1 point ahead of T-Mobile.

AT&T held its own in terms of availability in the US, with a score of 99.4 percent.

AT&T’s score beats Verizon’s by 0.2 percentage points. T-Mobile comes in third place with a score of 98.3 percent.
