After much research, the mysterious item was revealed to be a bird feeder designed to look like a picture frame that provides a “perfect view” when birds use it.

The frame feeder can be easily hung from a railing, balcony canopy or branch, allowing native birds to feast on snacks.
Before solving the mystery, Sarah asked a popular social media group to help her identify the item.
‘Any idea what this is, please? It was donated as a lottery prize, but no one knows what it is!’ she wrote.
‘If it sticks [on a wall] the silver bowl is not level.’

Many thought the mystery item was a tea light, or an instrument used to dispense holy water in churches.
“I think it’s a holy water font that Catholics used to hang by the front door so they could bless themselves when they went out or in. You would have to hang it on an extended hook to keep it level,” one woman said. .
‘I’m not Catholic, but I immediately thought of the church. It looks like one of those things they put up at the exits,’ said another.
“My grandmother had something similar with a statue of Jesus in the middle,” revealed one Catholic.
Another wrote: ‘I would put it over a radiator and put a wax melt in it. It could be a great feature wall.”

But many others correctly identified it as a bird feeder.
“It shouldn’t be a tea light holder, because then the wood would burn,” said one woman. “Maybe it’s a bird feeder.”
“I think it’s a bird feeder that you can hang on the outside of your window so you can watch the birds eat,” wrote a second.
“It’s a bird feeder to ‘frame’ the birds while they are eating,” revealed another.
