She explained how each day savers had to randomly choose an envelope, which had a number from one to 100 to indicate the dollar amount, and then put that amount aside in cash
Dozens of other social media users were quick to flood the comments to praise the nifty trick.
In the clip, which has been viewed more than 2.8 million times to date, Mardia points the camera at her notebook as she walks viewers through the method.
She works by working through a simple checklist of items needed for anyone who wants to replicate it – including a notebook, envelopes, and pens in two different colors.
Mardia, who has nearly 40,000 followers, explains, “So I start by numbering my notebook from one to 100 and the envelopes from one to 100.
“This is an easy way to keep track of what you’ve saved so far.”
The idea is that she chooses an envelope at random every day and fills it with the corresponding number of dollars printed on the front.
Holding up a selection of envelopes, she continues, “I’m already halfway through the process and this is what I’ve saved so far.
“I’m just going to list them all and go through my list again and check off the ones I’ve already saved.
“If you’re anything like me, I’m a visual person and I like seeing the progress I’ve made so far.
