An Australian tradi accused of assaulting a fisherman during a drunken fit while on holiday in Indonesia has offered a remorseful apology as he awaits his fate.
Noosa man Bodhi Mani Risby-Jones, 23, from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, risks years in an Indonesian prison and public caning.
The carpenter has just spent his fifth night in a small 3×3 meter cement cell on Simeulue Island, off the coast of Sumatra, in the ultra-conservative province of Aceh.
He was on a three-week surfing holiday on the island when he was allegedly drunk late at night and allegedly threw a motorcycle at a fisherman.
Footage has surfaced of a remorseful Risby-Jones clad in orange prison clothes with a wry smile, being led from his cell to make a fawning apology to the camera.

“To the family of the victim and the victim, I am deeply sorry,” he said.
“I can’t even fathom my actions. I really want to make it right and fix the problem. I’m sorry.’
Risby-Jones also puts his hands together and bows his head in a prayerful motion.
Aceh operates under a sharia-based legal system and alcohol consumption is prohibited.
Police allege he had been drinking vodka in his hotel room at the Moon Beach Resort when he emerged naked just after midnight last Thursday.
Simeulue Police Chief Senior Commissioner Jatmiko claimed Mr Risby-Jones punched a guard in the neck, causing him to fall to the floor as he left the hotel.

He then allegedly hit passing motorcyclists in the street, knocking a man to the ground where his bicycle fell on top of him, causing serious leg injuries.
Angry locals then chased him to the beach where they detained him and tied his arms while the police were called.
The police investigation continues.
The fisherman who was attacked required 50 stitches.
A possible meeting between Risby-Jones and the alleged victim could be arranged to reach a reconciliation.
According to Simeulue Police Chief Detective Mayyuhdi, Risby-Jones was on a surfing trip because “he was depressed”
