The secret iPhone feature you NEVER knew existed
The secret iPhone feature you NEVER knew existed – how to turn on, mute or take a screenshot by tapping the BACK of your mobile
It’s late, you’re struggling with your keys at the front door, and the porch light is flashing again… if only help was at hand.
Well, for iPhone users, there may be a solution. A little known feature hidden among the many settings on the Apple device.
A quick double tap of your finger on the back of the phone, and viola! The torch goes on. Now you can find the keyhole.
Tap Back: Did you know you can turn on your flashlight by tapping the back of your phone twice?
The Back Tap feature allows the device to perform a slew of tasks that would otherwise be triggered by pressing on the home screen or the like.
Camera, screen rotation lock, mute, screenshot, Siri, volume control and the flashlight are among the 16 functions that can be performed by tapping the back of the phone two or three times.
Users can select two functions, one performed with a double tap, another with a triple tap.
The feature lurks in the accessibility features in your phone’s sections
But before you get too excited about this life-saving new tip that just might turn out to be the ultimate party trick… it may be easy to turn on, but it’s far from easy to use.
You can lead a horse to water, as they say.
As MailOnline staff found out, turning the setting on was perfectly easy, but double-tapping to turn on the flashlight turned out to be anything but.
Follow these simple steps if you want to enable the setting. But beware, an afternoon of furious finger tapping may follow:
