Carol Vorderman reveals she showers while sitting on the toilet in her £100k campervan

Carol Vorderman has revealed that after selling her £2.6m mansion and custom-designing her £100,000 motorhome, she still has to shower in her tiny bathroom while sitting on the toilet.

The 62-year-old Countdown host, who sold a luxury house with a pool in Bristol, spent months and more than £50,000 tuning a van to the perfect specs to live in, but ended up with a shower she can’t stand in.

Although Carol upgraded it with a skylight so she could lie in bed looking at the stars from what she calls her ‘rooftop terrace,’ she said the shower is so small she can’t easily move her arms without hitting the sides.

But she revealed that she deliberately chose to put the toilet right under the shower and is happy to sit on it for her daily washes.

Speaking to Paul Merton on his BBC Radio Wales show, Carol, who described the 4×4 medium wheel MAN TGE3 as his ‘men’s van’, said: ‘In my van, I have a small shower area. When I say small, I mean small, tiny.

A little cozy? Carol Vorderman has revealed that after selling her £2.6m mansion and custom-designing her £100,000 motorhome, she still has to shower while she’s sitting on the toilet.

‘So small you can’t actually stand up on it. So I designed it so that there is a toilet, a compost toilet, for you to sit on, because when you stand up to take a shower you need more arm room.

“Whereas if you have a sit-down shower, which you can do just fine, you don’t need as much space in the van.”

The van originally cost between £38,000 and £47,000 before Carol, who recently launched her own podcast called Perfect 10, custom built it.

As the star looks forward to her new RV, she left behind her sprawling Bristol mansion that boasted a massive pool.

The elegant abode also featured a state-of-the-art kitchen with a large island, breakfast bar, and light pouring in through skylights.

While the Welsh beauty had the perfect entertaining space with the sizeable garden with beautifully manicured lawns.

Bidding farewell to the house in December, Carol shared a peek inside the mansion on Instagram while encouraging others to check out a Countdown parody that served as inspiration for the name Sloblock Hall.

And although he retains another property in Wales and has a much smaller flat in Bristol, he likes to spend weeks traveling and sleeping in the beautiful countryside of his home country and hiking in the mountains of North Wales.

She added: ‘I’m really into the van life. I love the air, I love its freedom, I love its scruff.

Talking to Hello! Magazine in 2021, Carol admitted that she hopes to one day live in Wales full-time.

I am a vagabond; I have always been a bum. I love making houses, but I don’t want to be in them too much,’ he explained.

I live between West Wales, a bit of Cardiff and Bristol. I think progressively that will become all of Wales. Soon. I’m Welsh, and I love it. I want to spend a lot less time working in London, it’s my decision. I’m just doing the things I want to do.’
