Matt Turner hints the AFC Richmond coach could appear at July’s All-Star game vs. Arsenal
Ted Lasso? I’ll see what I can do! ‘: Matt Turner hints that the AFC Richmond manager could appear at July’s All-Star Game against Arsenal in a hilarious video where he tells teammates about MLS, DC United and ‘Thor’ Walker Zimmerman.
MLS has officially announced Arsenal as the opponent for this summer’s All-Star Game, and the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard may not be the only stars in attendance at Audi Field.
In a promotional video released on Tuesday, Arsenal goalkeeper (and former New England Revolution) Matt Turner walks Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah through the league as ‘MLS Director of Education’ ahead of the July 19 game at DC United’s Audi Field.
And while most of the video is fun and light-hearted, Turner seems to tease some news towards the end of the clip.
Asked by Martinelli if Ted Lasso will be in the All-Star Game, Turner hints that Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, will make an appearance in DC.

I know some people. I’ll see what I can do,’ she said.
Of course, with the Apple-produced MLS TV and Ted Lasso broadcasts, Turner’s prank could come to fruition.
Throughout the remainder of the roughly two-minute clip, Turner teaches his teammates about MLS tifos and DC United history, with Martinelli commenting that All-Star Walker Zimmerman probably looks like Thor.
“I would love to see him face the great Gabi [Magalhaes]’ says Nketiah.
With the game at DC United’s Audi Field, the club’s manager, Wayne Rooney, is ready to take on his old rivals.
Walker Zimmerman, defender for Nashville SC and USMNT, appeared in the promo clip
“I had a front row seat to watch the growth and development of Major League Soccer, first as a player and now as a manager,” Rooney said in a press release.
“The opportunity to lead the best our league has to offer against a Premier League club like Arsenal will be a highlight for me personally and an unforgettable experience for our passionate fan base here in DC.”
Meanwhile, Sudeikis and other members of the Ted Lasso cast also made headlines Monday when they visited the White House to promote the mental health debate.
The first episode of the show’s third season premiered last week.
