Sports presenter Abbey Gelmi leaves Seven News Melbourne: ‘Thank you for the beautiful send-off’
Abbey Gelmi is taking time off from Channel Seven.
The 7News sportscaster, 32, is expecting her first child and appears to be going on maternity leave.
The reality TV star posted on Instagram on Monday, posing alongside host Mike Amor holding a bouquet of flowers.
‘Annnd she’s officially on leave. Thank you @7newsmelbourne @mikeoz7 for the lovely (and very unnecessary) send-off,” she wrote.
‘How lucky to have a job that I can’t wait to return to! @Channel 7’.

It comes after Abbie announced that she and Kane Lambert are expecting their first child together.
She revealed the news in an interview with The herald sun in October.
“While it’s been such a special time, I haven’t been feeling well,” Gelmi told the publication.
“I could not have felt more supported by my work family at Sevens and I am very grateful for the grace they have given me, especially during the Commonwealth Games.
‘Annnd she’s officially on leave. Thank you @7newsmelbourne @mikeoz7 for the lovely (and very unnecessary) send-off,” she wrote.
It comes after Abbie announced that she and Kane Lambert (right) are expecting their first child together.
“It’s been a very busy few months for us and we’re excited about what’s to come.”
In May, Gelmi revealed that she was in the process of building her dream home from scratch and shared the news on her Instagram Stories.
“I’m enjoying this so much,” he wrote in a caption, alongside a gallery of photos.
Abbey first sparked rumors that she was dating the recently retired Richmond star, 31, in May 2021.
The couple reportedly attended Sam Mac’s book launch in Melbourne together at the time, reportedly being introduced by Love Island’s Tayla Damir.
The Daily Telegraph reported that the couple started dating after Abbey moved from Melbourne to Sydney.
She revealed the news in an interview with The Herald Sun in October. “While it’s been such a special time, I’ve been pretty rough,” Gelmi told the publication.
