New Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. sent well wishes to team executive Tony Khan, who wore a neck brace in the franchise’s “war room” Thursday night.

In addition to his role with the Jaguars, Khan is CEO and president of the professional wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling.

Khan was involved in a storyline in which he was attacked by members of his own roster during Wednesday night’s live episode of AEW’s weekly show “Dynamite.”

First Khan was hit in the ribs with a microphone by Jack Perry, the son of late actor Luke Perry, who brought to the ring AEW tag team champions the Young Bucks, Nicholas and Matthew Jackson, who also serve as executive vice presidents for the promotion presidents.

After steadily helping Khan to his feet, Matthew Jackson lifted Khan upside down in the air, while Nicholas climbed to the top turnbuckle and performed a front somersault to drive Khan’s skull into the canvas.

After Thomas was partially drafted by Tony Khan, the wide receiver wished his new boss well

“I hope you’re doing well, I hope you come back from your injury and have a speedy recovery,” Thomas said after being selected by Khan and the rest of the Jacksonville leadership team.

Thomas was the fourth wide receiver taken by the Jaguars in the first round of the draft at No. 23 overall.

Every major wrestling promotion has had an on-air conflict between an authority figure and wrestlers who don’t want to be accountable to those in power.

The conflict between Perry, the Young Bucks and Khan has roots dating back several months, but has flared up in the past week as Perry returned to AEW programming.

This marked the first time a wrestler has attacked Khan on television since AEW’s inception in 2019.

After Khan grabbed the piledriver, he lay motionless in the ring with Tony’s father and Jaguars’ principal owner Shad Khan, making his first on-screen appearance for AEW to check on his son, who was attended to by referees and others members of the company’s selection.

By wearing a neck brace during a major broadcast like the NFL Draft, Tony Khan should draw attention to his promotion.

AEW is the second largest professional wrestling promotion in North America, behind the WWE, and has a television agreement with TNT and TBS.

Last week, AEW was valued by Forbes at $2 billion, third for a combat sports promotion after the UFC ($11.3 billion) and the WWE ($6.8 billion).
