Zion Williamson on his struggles to stay grounded amid NBA success

‘I’m 20, 22, I’ve got all the money in the world… it’s hard, man’: Zion Williamson on his struggle to stay grounded amid NBA success – as his eyes return to the court amid injuries and porn star scandal

Scandalized NBA star Zion Williamson has been candid about his struggles to stay sane during the early parts of his NBA career, discussing the pressures that come with making “all the money in the world.”

The Pelicans star was ranked No. 1 overall in 2019 but has struggled to stay sane, and this summer has been embroiled in some off-court drama with porn star Moriah Mills.

“It’s hard, man,” Williamson said while appearing on the “Gil’s Arenapodcast, hosted by Wizards legend Gilbert Arenas. ‘I’m 20, 22, have all the money in the world — well, it feels like all the money in the world. It is difficult.

“I’m at that point now, through certain things, I put back the wisdom around me. I don’t want to say older because they get defensive, but I put people around me with wisdom. Risk me for certain things. And just go from there.”

Williamson has played in just 114 regular season games in his four years in the league.

Last season, he played in just 29 games after suffering a hamstring injury in early January that saw him miss the rest of the season.

Before that, he missed the entire 2021-2022 season after suffering a broken foot. He was expected to take the court at some point in the year, but was never cleared to play.

In April, at the end of this season, Pelican’s Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin stated that “a big part is on his account” when he talked about Williamson’s availability.

“I think there’s a lot he could do better and I think he’d tell you. I think we should examine the whole situation better from top to bottom,” Griffin said. “I think it’s important to put him in the best position to succeed. And I think his participation is a big part of that.”

During his surprise podcast appearance, Williamson also stated that he has been trying to follow in Lebron James’ footsteps and has focused on his flexibility this offseason to better avoid injury. He also addressed those trying to spread the story that he misses games because he doesn’t want to play.

‘It’s more about flexibility, production lines. I think it’s those things that can keep me on the field longer instead of losing a lot of weight and coming to play,” said Williamson.

Moriah Mills has repeatedly called out Williamson online

He recently got involved in a saga with porn star Moriah Mills, after announcing that he is expecting a child with his real life old girlfriend named Ahkeema

‘I’m a hooper. When I sit on the sidelines watching my teammates in certain games they lose, I know that if I was there I could change the outcome.

“What I want people to know about me is that I just want to hoop. I want to be out there. Nobody just wants to be on the sidelines. I think I want people to understand that. I don’t want to be on the sidelines. Do you think I want to sit there hurt? Not me.’

Williamson has also seen more unwanted attention this offseason after porn star Moriah Mills took to Twitter to harass the two-time All-Star, which ultimately led to her account being suspended.

Mills was upset after Williamson announced he was expecting the birth of his first child in the near future.
