Zinedine Zidane has reportedly turned down the chance to become the next manager of an African country.

Despite being flattered by the offer, the former French star decided to turn it down.

Zidane was approached after the country in question left the Africa Cup of Nations early.

Algeria were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations after finishing bottom of Group D, following which Belmadi was sacked.

As reported by L’EquipeZidane, of Algerian descent, was approached about the state of affairs after the departure of Djamel Belmadi.

After starting their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Angola, Algeria then drew 2-2 against Burkina Faso before being defeated 1-0 by Mauritania.

Herve Renard, who currently manages the French women’s team, and ex-Morocco boss Vahid Halilhodzic are also being considered by Algeria.

Zidane has not managed it since his second spell as Real Madrid manager ended in 2021.

In early 2023, Zidane turned down an offer to coach the United States.

Zidane is undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time and also achieved great success with Real as a coach.

Zidane won the Champions League in three consecutive seasons (2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18) as Real manager, while also winning two LaLiga titles and winning the Club World Cup twice.
