Zero registration fee for hybrid cars in UP raises the bar in NCR

According to auto industry sources, prices of high-performance hybrid cars in Uttar Pradesh have fallen by as much as Rs 400,000 after the state government decided to waive registration fees for these cars in a bid to promote green technology.

Around 100 high-performance hybrid cars were sold per month in Uttar Pradesh in FY24. With the new directive effective from July 1, hybrid vehicles will now be grouped with electric vehicles (EVs) for registration fee exemptions. The move is expected to boost sales of these vehicles in the state, which is among the largest EV markets in India.
