Zendaya confirmed that she would sign on to reprise her role as Chani in a future third Dune film during a cast interview with Fandango that was released on Friday.
The 27-year-old performer was joined by several of her castmates, including Timothee Chalamet and Florence Pugh, for the sit-down, where they discussed various aspects of the upcoming Denis Villeneuve-directed film Dune: Part Two.
At one point, the actress — whose boyfriend recently showed his affection for her on social media — was asked if she, as well as her castmates, would be interested in reprising their roles in a future film based on the 1969 novel Dune Messiah.
Zendaya replied, “Are we down? I mean of course. Every time Denis (Villeneuve) calls, it’s a yes from me. I’m excited to see what happens.”
The Euphoria star further revealed that she started reading Dune Messiah and quickly stopped to develop a better understanding of the storyline.

She recalled, “I started Messiah and I was like, ‘Woah, I’m just shooting the first movie. Let me go back to the first one.'”
Although Zendaya admitted that working on Dune Messiah would be a difficult task, she was confident that Villeneuve was the right director for the job.
“It’s so much to take in, but there’s no better hands with better care and love for it than Denis,” she said.
The artist then said that it was all up to Villeneuve to make major decisions about the future of the Dune franchise.
“I know he’s a perfectionist in many ways and doesn’t want to share anything unless he’s completely ready. So (I) respect that and wait until he’s ready,” she said.
Zendaya made her debut as Chani in Dune: Part One, which was released in 2021.
The film, based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, was a hit with audiences and critics alike.
Development of the second Dune film was confirmed following Dune’s release, with filming taking place throughout much of 2022.
