Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom players are already working their way through the game
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has a huge toolbox. Using the Tri Rod, players can summon copies of more than 100 world items and beasts called ‘echoes’. With a simple wave of a wand, Zelda can spawn anything from a bed to an Octorok. Just like inside Tears of the KingdomThis system allows players to get creative with the way they solve puzzles and navigate the world. And ever since Echoes of wisdom‘s release last week, players are already finding clever combinations of echoes to obliterate opponents and seemingly break the rules of the game itself.
In Echoes of wisdomplayers take on the role of Princess Zelda. With the help of a fairy named Tri, she can make copies of items and also use the ability Bind, which allows Zelda to move objects remotely. The Bind power allows her to have a magical aura, and when an object moves along a certain path, Bind causes the item to pull Zelda along. The Bind ability, combined with the dozens of items, has given players a massive canvas with which to tinker and break the game.
A person found a way to fly by luring a crow with a piece of meat. Another person discovered that you can easily climb a steep cliff by summoning a spider called Strandtula, and use Bind on it as it walks up the wall. Another player uses a creature called Tornado in combination with a bed so that Zelda can fly all the way up the mountain with ease. Yet another use a reliable tablea Gustmaster and a Ghirro to fly around. You can scroll on to see what everyone has done for yourself, but it’s truly phenomenal to see how much has been discovered in such a short time.
The Echoes of wisdom developers said so their mantra for the game was to allow players to be “naughty”. This may sound vague, but according to longtime producer Eiji Aonuma, the team came up with this phrase because they wanted to add something to the game that was “really out there.” Director Tomomi Sano said that the team wanted players to “find uses for echoes that are so ingenious that it almost feels like cheating”, and that this is part of what makes the game fun.
Of course, what is fun for one player may not be fun for another. Someone may not want to use a combination flesh and crow fly device to explore the environment, and that’s fine. So if you’re the kind of person who prefers to squeeze through bed, that’s always an option too.
