Zara Tindall reveals how she ‘lives for making moments’ with her children

Zara Tindall reveals how she ‘lives for making moments’ with her kids – plus the sport she hopes they take up (and it’s not rugby or horse riding!)

Zara Tindall has shared her hope that her three children will learn how to play golf and the collaborative games that can result.

A guest on IMG Golf’s Opinion Matters podcast, Princess Anne’s equestrian daughter said it would be great if Mia, nine, Lena, four, and Lucas, one, “all knew how to swing a club” so the family could enjoy rounds of golf together in the future.

Zara’s husband of 11 years, Mike Tindall, the former England rugby captain, is an avid golfer himself.

She said, “So yeah, it would be great if they all knew how to swing a club and you could do it together. Because, you know, that’s kind of what you live for, isn’t it, and making those moments together, being able to do them together, is so much easier too.

“We can all be interested in the same things, that’s incredible.”

Zara, who won a silver medal as part of the British equestrian team at the 2012 London Olympics, was self-deprecating when it came to her own game, suggesting that her brood would soon fly past their parents on the track.

Speaking to host Di Stewart, Zara said: ‘They’re all getting better than us, aren’t they? And I’ll be the mug in the back that gets 15 shots, they’ll be waiting for me!’

However, that’s not to say the royal is a complete newcomer to the sport.

In fact, Zara was one of the participants in the 2022 Slingsby Golf Academy, playing alongside Sky Sports journalist Anna Woolhouse, television personality Dr. Zoe Williams and tennis coach Judy Murray.

Conceived with the hope of welcoming more women into the sport, the Golf Academy involved six months of training with PGA Professionals and culminated in a competition.

The Tindalls continue to combine their passion for golf with their dedication to charity work as hosts of an annual golf fundraiser, which last year brought together celebrities including Denise Van Outen, Brian McFadden and BBC presenter Dan Walker at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield.

With the ISPS Handa Championship professional golf tournament underway, Mike is currently in Japan lending his support to the PGM Ishioka Golf Club in Omitama.
