Zara Tindall narrowly avoids serious injury as horse rears up and lands on her during Australian photoshoot – six months after her mother Princess Anne was kicked in the head in riding accident and left with memory loss

Zara Tindall narrowly avoided serious injury after a horse pranced and landed on her during a photo shoot in Australia.

The royal, 43, is currently on the other side of the world for the Magic Millions Races – an event for which she is an ambassador.

During a photo shoot in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, Zara posed in front of three horses, all of which were ridden by jockeys.

In the video, the 43-year-old can be seen beaming as he holds the reins of two of the enormous animals – beaming a smile from ear to ear.

But suddenly a third horse rears up, shoots forward and lands hard on her shoulder.

The royal family was knocked aside and visibly shaken as the jockey in charge of the horse in question attempted to regain control of the animal.

Fortunately, Princess Anne’s daughter managed to jump away just in time to avoid serious injury.

The scare comes just six months after her mother was kicked in the head in a horse accident and suffered memory loss.
And just weeks later, Zara also fell from her horse at the Burghley Horse Trials – as her husband and three children watched.

Zara was competing in the event in Stamford, Lincolnshire, when she fell during a cross-country event in September.

She came off her horse Class Affair at Rolex Corners, which put her out of the competition, but luckily both Zara and her horse were unharmed.

Just before that, she almost stopped jumping into the trout farm, but she managed to hold on.

Zara’s fall and confrontation with the horse comes just six months after her mother, Princess Anne, was kicked in the head by a horse.

The Princess Royal, 74, suffered a bruise under her left eye and ‘cannot remember anything’ about the incident on June 23.

Anne was taken to hospital with minor head wounds and concussion, but has since returned to royal duties.

Zara and Mike are frequent visitors to the Australian coast and were last in the country last year.

The pair spent Christmas in Britain before recently returning Down Under for the Magic Millions.

Zara and Mike are not working royals and do not take money from the Sovereign Grant to fund their lifestyle through various brand deals.

In 2012, Zara was announced as the first Magic Millions Racing Women ambassador.

Magic Millions has been a regular fixture on Zara’s calendar since that year, when she became patron following her Olympic silver medal win in London.

She now travels to Surfers Paradise in Queensland every year for the Gold Coast Yearling Sale, seven days of auctions culminating in a major race meeting where all the contenders are horses bought at previous Magic Millions auctions.

The sporty couple leave their children and the miserable British weather behind to take part in the 10-day equestrian carnival on the Gold Coast.

Zara will show off her skills on the polo field while her husband, who hosts a weekly podcast with James Haskell and Alex Payne, will provide his witty commentary at the glitzy event.

They will also watch the show jumping and beach races.

Brand experts say Zara could make ‘millions’ from the deal.

During their trip to Australia last year, Zara and Mike were spotted shopping in luxury boutiques and taking part in wine tours.

The couple speaks lovingly about the country where their love story began.

They met in a Sydney bar in 2003, while Mike was ‘drowning his sorrows’ after being left out of England’s World Cup squad and Zara was on a gap year.

The couple have been married since 2011 and have three children: Mia Grace Tindall, 10, Lucas Tindall, three, and Lena Elizabeth Tindall, six.

During a trip Down Under in 2020, they even rang in the new year in Sydney with an A-list audience including Rebel Wilson
